Kenton Black are seeking an experienced and motivated Site Engineer in East Lothian. The client, a large civil engineering firm, are looking for an experienced engineer to join their team on a major converter station project in East Lothian. This is a key role within a high-profile infrastructure scheme, offering the opportunity to work on a technically challenging development supporting the UK’s energy transition. You’ll be part of a collaborative site team delivering a complex civil engineering package, with a focus on quality, safety, and programme performance.

Key Responsibilities

- Setting out and surveying works in accordance with design specifications
- Supporting the delivery of civil engineering works including earthworks, foundations, drainage, and structural elements
- Ensuring all works are completed in line with project drawings, specifications, and health & safety standards
- Working closely with site management, subcontractors, and design teams
- Maintaining accurate site records, including as-built documentation
- Assisting with quality assurance, inspections, and testing regimes
- Identifying and resolving technical issues on site
- Supporting programme delivery and reporting on progress

About You

- Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- Proven experience as a Site Engineer on large-scale infrastructure or energy projects
- Strong knowledge of setting out techniques and equipment (e.g., GPS, total stations)
- Experience working on complex reinforced concrete structures beneficial
- Good understanding of health & safety regulations within construction
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- CSCS card (essential)
- Full UK driving licence

Desirable

- Previous experience on HVDC converter stations, substations, or similar energy projects
- Temporary works or lifting operations knowledge
- SMSTS or SSSTS certification
