The Opportunity

We are working on behalf of our client, a global logistics and supply chain business, who are looking for an experienced Freight Forwarder – Reefer Specialist to join their growing team in Haverhill, Suffolk.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced freight forwarding professional with a background in temperature-controlled or reefer cargo to join a specialist team and play a key role in managing the smooth and efficient movement of UK food products to destinations worldwide.

You will be responsible for managing shipments from start to finish, working closely with customers, suppliers and internal teams to ensure every consignment is handled efficiently, accurately and with a high level of customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage the end-to-end movement of reefer and temperature-controlled cargo.
• Arrange and oversee export shipments, ensuring they move efficiently and within agreed deadlines.
• Prepare and manage shipping documentation, including customs paperwork, invoices and other relevant documentation.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers, hauliers, shipping lines and overseas partners to ensure shipments progress smoothly.
• Monitor shipments closely and provide regular updates to customers and relevant stakeholders.
• Proactively identify and resolve any issues or delays, providing practical solutions where required.
• Maintain accurate shipment and transaction records, ensuring a high level of compliance and attention to detail.
• Manage multiple shipments and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers and suppliers.
• Identify opportunities to improve service levels and add value for customers.

About You

We are looking for someone who is experienced within freight forwarding or logistics, ideally with knowledge of reefer, chilled or frozen cargo.

You will be someone who takes ownership of your work, enjoys working in a busy operational environment and is confident dealing with customers and suppliers.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• At least 3 years' experience in freight forwarding or logistics.
• Previous experience handling reefer / temperature-controlled freight would be highly advantageous.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, particularly when dealing with shipping and customs documentation.
• A proactive, hands-on approach to problem solving.
• The ability to remain calm and effective when working to tight deadlines.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• The ability to build positive working relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
• Good IT skills and confidence using Microsoft Office and logistics systems.
• A flexible approach and the ability to adapt when priorities change.
