I am seeking a Freight Operations Controller for a permanent role near Horsham, West Sussex.

Previous UK based shipping experience is ESSENTIAL for this role.

The business offers bespoke multi-modal shipment solutions, storage & packaging services, industry expertise and prides themselves on cultivating long-term customer relationships.

The successful Freight Operations Controller will assist in fulfilling all customer requirements and Coordinate Air, Road and Sea Shipments to/from the UK and Cross Trade moments from start to finish.
A love of providing bespoke shipping solutions and engaging with customers and all others involved in the shipping process is essential!

Role: Operations Controller - Logistics industry
Location: Near Horsham, West Sussex
Hours: Full-time, Monday - Friday (08:30-17:30)

Main responsibilities:

  • Support the operations team in fulfilling all customer requirements.
  • Coordinate Air, Road and Sea Shipments to/from the UK and Cross Trade movements from start to finish.
  • Ensure accurate billing and strong commercial judgement on margins per customer.
  • Accurately complete job files and book jobs onto the internal system.
  • Update track/trace customer portals on relevant jobs ensuring accurate data entry and milestone reports via email.
  • Prepare and present quotations for projects, ad-hoc and regular movements.
  • Ensure 100% compliance in everything you do.
  • Assist the operations team in the on-call rota. This is shared equally between the staff and is paid in addition.
  • Assist with pick/pack/distribution related activity (manual)



Ideal candidate profile:

  • Freight Forwarding experience essential.
  • Logistics and Customer Service experience required.
  • A calm manner and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build & maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders, both internal & external.
  • Ability to create/write and articulate reports and customer proposals.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Possess a 'go the extra mile' mentality with a strong work ethic.
  • Initiative and ability to work autonomously.
  • Good Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • General fitness to help out in stores as & when required.
  • Candidates must already hold unrestricted right to live and work in the UK at the time of application. No sponsorships can be provided now, or in the future.
