Are you a compassionate, patient, and dedicated individual looking to make a real difference in a child's life? We are seeking an empathetic Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join our supportive school community in Devon.
In this role, you will work closely with children who have a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, global development delay, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Your guidance will help them unlock their full potential in a safe, nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities

  • Foster inclusion: Help students engage with the curriculum and classroom social dynamics.
  • Manage behavior: Implement positive behavior strategies and emotional regulation support.
  • Collaborate closely: Work alongside class teachers, parents, and external therapists to track and review individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Create a safe space: Ensure a nurturing, structured environment where pupils feel secure and valued.
What We Are Looking For
  • Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (preferred but not essential if you have transferable skills).
  • Attributes: Exceptional patience, strong communication skills, and a calm, resilient nature.
  • Adaptability: The ability to think on your feet and tailor your approach to each child's unique needs.
  • Compliance: A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
What We Offer
  • Competitive daily rates paid weekly.
  • Continuous professional development (CPD) opportunities, including Team Teach and Safeguarding training.
  • A highly supportive and welcoming school leadership team.
  • Dedicated consultant support to guide you through your placement.
