Functional Skills Teacher

We are seeking an engaging and resilient Functional Skills Teacher to deliver Maths and English (Entry Level–Level 2) within a supportive and learner-focused environment. This is an opportunity to work with young people who may not thrive in traditional educational settings and help them build the skills, confidence, and qualifications needed to progress into employment, apprenticeships, or further education.

This is a term-time only position (41 weeks per year), offering the opportunity to make meaningful impact while benefiting from a school-term working pattern.

You will play a key role in creating a positive and inclusive learning experience by:

• Delivering engaging and differentiated Functional Skills lessons in Maths and English.
• Planning and adapting learning to meet individual learner needs, interests, and aspirations.
• Supporting student progress through effective assessment, target setting, and tracking.
• Building strong relationships with learners, families, and colleagues to encourage achievement and engagement.
• Promoting positive behaviour and creating a safe, supportive classroom environment.
• Contributing to curriculum development and maintaining high teaching standards.
• Supporting wider pastoral and learner development activities.

We are looking for someone who has:

• A recognised teaching qualification
• Strong experience delivering and planning effective teaching programmes.
• Experience supporting young people with additional learning needs and complex behaviours.
• Excellent behaviour management skills and a calm, adaptable approach.
• A genuine passion for helping learners overcome barriers and achieve successful outcomes.
