Furniture Assistant (Part Time)

Porta Romana is a privately owned English company, based in Farnham, Surrey. Our brand is synonymous with luxury lighting and furniture products supplying many of the most prestigious hotel, yachts, and residential projects around the world.
All our product development, casting, decorative finishing, assembly, and wiring work is undertaken in-house, and we also work with many other skilled artisans around the UK and beyond, to create pieces for our collection.
Based in our Farnham, Head Office we are currently looking for a suitable candidate, with a keen interest in Interior Design to join our Furniture Team as a Furniture Assistant on a part time basis (up to 18 hours per week). This is a hands-on and immersive role as we develop and expand our furniture collection.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside the Furniture Supervisor bringing pieces of our Furniture collection to life.
- Undertake the task of glazing of mirrors and furniture preparation/assembly.
- Working with Marble, Glass, Metal, Resin, and Wood.
- Assist with inspection/packing of furniture
- Ensure all products are ready, packed and labelled as per schedule
- QC of deliveries in a timely manner
- Keep workshop clean, organised and tidy at all times
- Providing help within other departments as required
- To perform any other duties that may be reasonably required
Skills and Experience
- Experience of in a similar role in a manufacturing/building environment
- An desire to learn practical hands-on skills with a problem-solving mindset
- Ability to work to deadlines and targets
- An organised nature and keen attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and team player
- Previous experience of manual handling would be ideal; some heavy lifting may be required
- Knowledge of Health and Safety in the workplace
- Accuracy and numeracy skills for stock taking
