Further Education Learning Support Worker
Axcis Education
I am delighted to be working in close partnership with three well-renowned colleges across Gloucestershire, supporting them with the recruitment of Learning Support Workers for September and the 2026–2027 academic year.
These three colleges, based in Stroud, Gloucester and near Newent, are looking for full-time Learning Support Workers to start on Monday 7th September 2026 and continue until June/July 2027.
The roles will be between 30 and 35 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday, with working hours of 9:00am–4:00pm, 8:30am–4:30pm, or similar. The pay rate is £16.00 per hour, paid weekly in arrears.
The colleges are seeking Learning Support Workers across a wide range of subject areas, including Animal Management, Sport, Mechanics, Agriculture and Music, among others. The role will involve supporting students in both theoretical and practical sessions, providing assistance on both a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
The students requiring support may have mild learning difficulties, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism, ADHD or Global Developmental Delay. They have actively requested support and recognise the benefits of more focused one-to-one assistance, meaning they are keen to engage positively with the additional support provided.
The colleges and I are looking for individuals with the following attributes:
- A genuine passion for education, particularly Further Education.
- A hobby or interest such as sport, music or animals.
- An adaptable, positive and approachable attitude.
- Previous experience, either personal or professional, supporting individuals with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Reliability, a strong work ethic and a committed approach.
As the colleges are keen to secure the right candidates as soon as possible, we encourage interested applicants to apply without delay. If you possess the qualities outlined above and feel you could make a valuable contribution to one of these colleges, we would love to hear from you.
Successful candidates will first have an initial telephone conversation with me before being invited to interview with both myself and the relevant Learning Support Manager from the college. Following a successful interview, you will complete our clearance process and be ready to start by Monday 7th September 2026.
Please note that these positions are expected to attract a high volume of applications. While I may not be able to respond immediately, I will be in touch with suitable applicants as soon as possible.
Application opens at the source listing. Free for jobseekers.
