The Role
I am currently recruiting for an experienced Freelance Civil Engineering Foreman to join a residential groundworks project in Widnes. Working on behalf of the client, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating site activities across a residential development, with particular focus on groundworks and attenuation lagoons.
This is a hands-on site-based role suited to an experienced Foreman who is confident managing groundworks operations, subcontractors and site teams while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and productivity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supervise day-to-day groundworks operations on site
• Coordinate site operatives, subcontractors and plant
• Oversee excavation, drainage, muck-shift and associated groundworks
• Manage construction of attenuation lagoons and associated works
• Ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and to specification
• Read and work from drawings, specifications and RAMS
• Monitor progress and report any issues to site management
• Coordinate plant, materials and deliveries
• Maintain high standards of health & safety and site housekeeping
• Liaise with engineers, site management and other trades
• Ensure work is completed to the required programme and quality standards
Requirements
• Proven experience as a Civil Engineering / Groundworks Foreman
• Strong residential groundworks experience
• Previous experience with attenuation lagoons or similar earthworks/drainage schemes
• Ability to lead and coordinate site teams effectively
• Good understanding of construction drawings and specifications
• Strong health & safety awareness
• CSCS/CPCS/NPORS or relevant site qualifications
• SMSTS/SSSTS and First Aid desirable
• Previous freelance/self-employed experience preferred
