The Role

We are currently recruiting for a General Machinist to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with machining experience who are looking to develop their skills within a heavy manufacturing setting.

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating CNC machinery as well as a range of conventional workshop equipment to support production requirements.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Thursday: 7:45am – 4:45pm
  • Friday: 7:45am – 3:45pm
  • Total weekly hours: 41.5 hours

Please note that while the company's standard contracted week is 39 hours, employees work an additional 2.5 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operating CNC machinery safely and efficiently
  • Using conventional machining equipment including:
    • Chop saws
    • Threading machines
    • Conventional drilling machines
    • Pillar drills
    • Other general workshop machinery
  • Producing components to required specifications and quality standards
  • Carrying out routine machine checks and maintaining a safe working environment
  • Following engineering drawings and production instructions
  • Supporting general workshop and manufacturing operations as required

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a machining or engineering manufacturing environment
  • Experience operating CNC machinery
  • Familiarity with conventional workshop machinery and equipment
  • Ability to work safely within a heavy engineering or forge environment
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
