Senior Operations Director, Precision Manufacturing, Derbyshire

Salary: competitive, dependent on experience, plus benefits package (add specifics here before sending)

This is a full site leadership role for a Senior Operations Director to join a well established precision machining manufacturer in Derbyshire. You will take full site responsibility, reporting directly to the Board, with accountability for a business that produces complex, tight tolerance machined components for customers who expect excellent quality, reliability, and delivery performance.

The Business

This precision machining manufacturer has invested consistently in capability, technology, and people development over recent years. The culture is practical and performance led, and the site is looking for a Senior Operations Director who wants to build on strong foundations and shape what comes next. You will need to be comfortable being visible on the shop floor, working alongside technical specialists, and maintaining strong customer relationships.

The Role

As Senior Operations Director you will:

  • Hold full site P and L accountability and deliver financial and operational targets
  • Lead production, engineering, quality, and supply chain functions
  • Drive lean manufacturing and continuous improvement across operations
  • Work with the Board to develop and execute site strategy and growth plans
  • Maintain strong relationships across key customer accounts
  • Develop and lead senior operational managers, promoting accountability and high performance
  • Support capital investment, capacity planning, and productivity improvement

The Person

To be considered for this Senior Operations Director role you will need:

  • Experience operating at Operations Director, Plant Manager, or General Manager level within precision machining or a closely related manufacturing environment
  • A strong background in CNC turning, milling, or multi axis machining operations
  • Full P and L ownership with a track record of improving financial and operational performance
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and customer approval processes
  • Continuous improvement expertise, ideally Six Sigma qualified or equivalent
  • Confidence working across board level, customer interface, and shop floor operations

This is a genuine opportunity for a Senior Operations Director to influence both performance and direction at site level, not just manage what is already in place.
