General / Operations Manager

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Operations / General Manager to take overall responsibility for the performance, growth and operation of an established engineering and technical business in Ayrshire.

You will take ownership of a multi-disciplinary operation, leading a team while working closely with senior management to drive business performance and growth.

• Responsible for the general running and commercial performance of this site.
• Managing operational resources to ensure excellent customer service, efficiency and cost control.
• Working closely with technical and service teams to plan resources and deliver customer requirements.
• Leading and developing a multi-disciplinary team.
• Supporting and driving sales, business development and customer growth.
• Identifying new business opportunities and developing strong customer relationships.
• Taking ownership of budgets, costs, financial targets and profitability.
• Monitoring KPIs and financial performance and using data to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Maintaining high standards of Health & Safety and compliance.
• Building strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Contributing to wider business objectives and helping shape the future growth of the operation.

You will ideally have:

• Proven experience in a General Manager, Operations Manager, Business Unit Manager or similar leadership position.
• Strong people-management and team leadership experience.
• A background within engineering, manufacturing, technical equipment, servicing, installation or another relevant operational environment.
• Good technical understanding and the ability to engage confidently with technical teams and customers.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• The confidence to be hands-on, visible and involved in the operation.

A relevant technical, engineering, commercial or equivalent qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
