Vacancy Introduction

As a General Operative, you will support a variety of activities across clean water and wastewater networks, assisting with excavation, reinstatement, repairs, maintenance and construction works. Working as part of a collaborative team, you will help ensure projects are completed safely, on time and in accordance with company procedures and client requirements. The role involves working outdoors in a physically active environment, operating as part of a team dedicated to delivering essential water services while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and customer service.

Cappagh Browne Utilities Ltd is a special purpose joint venture established to deliver wastewater network maintenance and repair services for Southern Water across the South of England. We focus on keeping sewer networks operating efficiently through planned maintenance, emergency response and rehabilitation works. Our capability is underpinned by a substantial fleet of specialist vehicles including vacuum tankers, jetting units and CCTV survey equipment, supported by advanced technology for rapid diagnostics and effective solutions. With a reputation for safety, reliability and technical expertise, Cappagh Browne plays a critical role in protecting communities and maintaining essential infrastructure.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience working within the water, utilities, construction or civil engineering sectors is desirable
  • Understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements within a site-based environment
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions from supervisors and site management
  • Strong work ethic with a reliable, positive and flexible approach
  • Good communication skills and commitment to delivering high-quality work
  • Willingness to work outdoors and undertake physically demanding tasks

Essential Qualifications Required:

  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Commitment to safe working practices and company procedures

Desirable Qualifications:

  • EUSR Water Hygiene Card
  • NRSWA (Street Works) qualification
  • CSCS Card
  • First Aid at Work certification
  • Excavation, plant or machinery operation qualifications (CPCS, NPORS or equivalent)
  • Experience working on water or wastewater network projects
