General Operative

Dutton Recruitment (Sheffield Engineering) are recruiting

We are looking for a General Operative for a permanent position based with our client in Nottingham.

Immediate start available (subject to interview process)

Salary is £28,500 per annum (depending on experience)

This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys a varied role within a growing engineering environment and is keen to develop their skill set.

General Operative - Key Requirements:

• Ability to competently use power tools and hand tools
• Experience working in a manufacturing, engineering, or similar trade environment (e.g. electrical, joinery)
• Proactive, reliable, and with a positive attitude to work
• Good understanding of health & safety practices
• Willingness to support across fabrication, assembly, and workshop activities
• Crane operator licence and/or forklift licence would be highly advantageous

Stores / Warehouse Skills (Desirable for Cross-Functional Role):

Experience with:

• Picking, packing, and despatch processes
• Stock control systems including computer-based systems
• Goods-in inspection and put-away
• Supporting final QC preparation and workflow

Understanding of:

• Manual handling regulations (HSE L23 / HSG6)
• Safe loading/unloading of vehicles
• PUWER and LOLER awareness
• Banksman advantageous
• Counterbalance forklift licence (RTITB / AITT accredited) preferred
• Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 quality systems, document control, and site HSE procedures

Additional Requirements:

• Willingness to obtain SC Clearance (company-funded if not already held)
• Ability to pass a DBS check if not already held
• Clean driving licence
