Prison GP - Durham

We’re looking for a prison-cleared GP to join the healthcare team at a prison in Durham. This is a great opportunity for a doctor who enjoys working in a challenging but rewarding environment, supporting some of the most vulnerable people in society.

The role

  • Provide GP-led clinics to residents

  • Assess, diagnose and treat a wide range of physical and mental health needs

  • Work closely with nurses, mental health staff and other clinicians to deliver joined-up care

  • Support the management of long-term conditions and urgent presentations

  • Contribute to safe prescribing and medicines management

What you’ll need

  • Full GMC registration and licence to practise

  • Previous prison clearance (CTC or equivalent)

  • Experience in primary care, urgent care or prison healthcare

  • A flexible and resilient approach

Contract details

  • Location: Prison in Durham

  • Hours: Full time 

  • £100 per hour

  • Ongoing contract with flexible start dates
