General Teaching Assistant – KS1 and KS2
Location: Lewisham, London, SE6
Salary: £85–£100 per day
Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary
Start date: 1 September 2026
Salary is based on experience and qualifications. Higher rates apply to candidates with significant experience and/or qualifications.
Transparency Education is recruiting a capable and experienced Teaching Assistant for a primary school in Lewisham. The position will involve supporting pupils across Key Stages 1 and 2, working alongside class teachers to improve engagement, confidence and academic progress.
Key responsibilities
• Support pupils during whole-class lessons and independent activities.
• Deliver individual and small-group interventions.
• Assist pupils who need additional academic, behavioural or emotional support.
• Prepare resources and help maintain an organised learning environment.
• Reinforce positive behaviour and encourage pupil independence.
• Share relevant observations and progress information with teaching staff.
Requirements
• Recent experience supporting primary-aged children.
• Good spoken and written English and secure numeracy skills.
• A patient, proactive and adaptable approach.
• Confidence working with pupils who have different learning needs.
• A Level 2 or Level 3 teaching-assistant qualification is desirable.
• An understanding of safeguarding and professional confidentiality.
