We are recruiting for an experienced Generator Engineer to join a long-established specialist engineering business covering the Midlands.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Generator Engineer to join a highly established company, carrying out the service, maintenance, fault finding and installation of generators and associated control systems at customer sites.

The position would suit an electrically biased Generator Engineer with strong mechanical knowledge and proven experience diagnosing faults across generator control panels, switchgear and associated equipment.

The Role

As a Generator Service Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out service and planned maintenance on generators and associated equipment.
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical generator faults.
  • Carrying out generator installations at customer premises.
  • Servicing, maintaining and fault finding on generator control systems.
  • Diagnosing faults across generator control panels and switchgear.
  • Carrying out portable proof load bank testing.
  • Working with Deep Sea controllers and associated generator control equipment.
  • Upgrading existing generator control systems where required.
  • Ensuring equipment is operating safely, efficiently and reliably.
  • Completing work to the required technical and safety standards.
  • Providing a professional service while working at customer sites.

What We're Looking For

To be considered for this Generator Service Engineer position, you will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working as a Generator Engineer, Generator Service Engineer or similar.
  • Strong experience servicing, maintaining and fault finding on generators.
  • An electrical bias combined with good mechanical knowledge.
  • 18th Edition electrical qualification.
  • Strong fault-finding ability on generator control panels and switchgear.
  • Experience carrying out portable proof load bank testing.
  • Familiarity with Deep Sea controllers.
  • The ability to upgrade and modify existing generator control systems.
  • UPS knowledge would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • A valid CSCS or ECS card.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • The ability to work independently while attending customer sites.
