Our client, a well-established environmental and ground engineering consultancy, is currently seeking a Geo-Environmental Engineer to join their team in Durham. This permanent role offers a balanced mix of site-based investigations and office-based reporting, providing exposure to the full project lifecycle from investigation through to remediation and validation.



Key Responsibilities:


Site-based duties will include:

  • Conducting intrusive ground investigations, including boreholes and trial pits to determine ground conditions
  • Recovering samples for laboratory geotechnical testing and ground contamination screening
  • Undertaking soakaway testing


Office-based duties will include:

  • Producing Phase 1 Desk Top Studies
  • Creating Coal Mining Risk Assessments
  • Writing Phase 2 Ground Investigation Reports, including ground contamination risk assessments
  • Preparing Remediation Strategies
  • Compiling Validation Reports
  • Drawing up and presenting site data, such as borehole and trial pit logs
  • Scheduling laboratory testing of recovered samples


Job Requirements:

  • Experience in a geo-environmental, contaminated land, or ground investigation role
  • Comfortable working on site and contributing to technical reporting
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail for reporting deliverables
