An established engineering consultancy is looking to recruit a Geotechnical Design Engineer to join its growing team in Reading. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a wide range of residential, commercial and infrastructure projects, delivering geotechnical designs from initial site investigation through to construction.
You'll be joining a supportive and technically strong team where you'll work alongside experienced geotechnical, civil and structural engineers, gaining exposure to challenging projects and clear opportunities for career progression.
The Role
- Produce geotechnical designs for foundations, retaining walls, slope stability and earthworks.
- Interpret ground investigation data and provide geotechnical recommendations.
- Carry out design calculations and prepare technical reports.
- Undertake geotechnical assessments and foundation appraisals.
- Liaise with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams.
- Support project delivery from feasibility through to construction.
- Attend site visits when required to review ground conditions and monitor works.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology or Geotechnical Engineering.
- Around 2-5 years' experience in a geotechnical design role.
- Experience interpreting ground investigation data and producing geotechnical designs.
- Knowledge of Eurocodes and current UK design standards.
- Experience using software such as Oasys, PLAXIS, GeoStudio or similar is desirable.
- Strong technical reporting and communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
