We are delighted to be recruiting for a Goods Inwards Administrator to join an established and busy manufacturing environment based in Banbury.
This is a varied role supporting the efficient receipt, checking and processing of goods and materials arriving on site. The successful candidate will ensure deliveries are checked for quantity and quality, accurately booked into the relevant systems and any discrepancies are investigated and resolved.
Working closely with Finance, Logistics, Purchasing and other departments, this is an excellent opportunity for an organised and detail-focused individual with strong administrative and analytical skills.
The Role
As Goods Inwards Administrator, you will be responsible for coordinating the goods receipt process and ensuring all deliveries are accurately checked, recorded and processed.
You will maintain accurate documentation, investigate discrepancies, review open orders and work closely with internal departments to resolve any issues relating to goods receipts and purchase orders.
Key Responsibilities
- Check incoming deliveries for quantity and quality and accurately book goods into the relevant system.
- Investigate goods or services that cannot be booked in due to insufficient purchase order coverage.
- Liaise with internal teams to obtain the required approvals and ensure outstanding receipts are processed.
- Check, sign and maintain delivery notes and ensure documentation is accurately filed and archived.
- Review open orders and investigate any outstanding or unresolved items.
- Carry out relevant SAP transactions, including COGI transactions where required.
- Liaise with Finance, Logistics, Purchasing and other departments regarding goods receipt queries.
- Review orders that do not require a standard goods receipt and obtain the relevant confirmation.
- Maintain an organised goods-in area and ensure the receipt process runs efficiently.
- Ensure goods are safely and correctly stored at all times.
- Report and escalate quality issues and work with relevant departments to resolve concerns.
- Maintain compliance with internal audit, SOX and company procedures.
- Follow Health & Safety, Environmental, manual handling, COSHH and safe working procedures.
- Report accidents, near misses and any safety concerns.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality, productivity and efficiency.
About You
We are looking for an organised, methodical and detail-focused individual who can work accurately in a busy environment.
You will be confident working with different departments, investigating discrepancies and ensuring administrative processes are completed correctly and on time.
You should have:
- Previous experience within goods inwards, logistics, warehousing, purchasing or a similar administrative role.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills.
- The ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with colleagues across different departments.
- A proactive approach and continuous improvement mindset.
- Good IT skills and confidence using workplace systems.
Desirable Experience
Previous experience using SAP, ERP or MES systems.
Experience processing goods receipts, purchase orders or delivery documentation.
Experience within a manufacturing, logistics or warehouse environment.
Knowledge of COGI transactions would be advantageous.
A valid FLT licence would be desirable.
