Goods In Inspector in Tile Cross, City and Borough of Birmingham

We are part of the global Cognesense group, delivering industry‑leading explosion protection solutions for equipment operating in hazardous areas, such as oil and gas, chemical and manufacturing sectors.

Our UK operation design and manufacture industrial and hazardous-area switches, transmitters, explosion relief valves and explosion-proof (Ex) hazardous area lighting solutions and control equipment.

Due to growth, we are now looking for an experienced Goods Inwards Quality Inspector, to be responsible for inspecting purchased components, raw materials and subcontracted parts to ensure compliance with engineering, quality and customer requirements before release into production.

Main Roles and Responsibilities:

• Perform incoming inspection of purchased parts, materials, and subcontracted products.
• Verify goods against engineering drawings, specifications, purchase orders, and inspection plans.
• Conduct dimensional inspections using tools including, Vernier calipers, Micrometers, height, bore and thread gauges as well as surface finish measurement equipment
• Review supplier documentation, certificates of conformity, material certificates, and inspection reports.
• Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and support supplier corrective action activities.
• Maintain accurate inspection and traceability records.
• Support supplier quality improvement initiatives.
• Work closely with Purchasing, Production, and Quality teams to ensure timely release of conforming materials.
• Manage quarantine and disposition of non-conforming materials.
• Support internal and external quality audits.

Skills, Experience and Knowledge:

• Previous experience in Goods Inwards Inspection, Quality Inspection, or Incoming Inspection within a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments.
• Understanding of quality systems and inspection processes.
• Experience of non-conformance management and corrective action activities.
• Good communication and record-keeping skills.

Desirable

• Experience within CNC machining, precision engineering, automotive, aerospace, or industrial manufacturing.
• Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
• Experience using CMM equipment.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001standards.
• Internal quality auditor training.
