Goods In Operative

Proactive Recruitment

Proactive Recruitment is recruiting 3 Goods In Operatives for a busy frozen and chilled distribution centre in Daventry. This is an inbound role on the morning shift unloading vehicles and booking stock in.

The role

You'll be the first point of contact for stock arriving on site, working as part of a team of four on the goods in bay:

  • Unloading inbound vehicles safely using a powered pallet truck
  • Checking deliveries against delivery notes and purchase orders
  • Booking stock onto the system using an RF scanner
  • Flagging shortages, damages and discrepancies to the shift manager
  • Wrapping and securing pallets, including awkward or unstable loads
  • Putting stock away into the correct chamber and location
  • Keeping the goods in area clean, clear and safe, and working to site health, safety and food hygiene standards

What we're looking for

  • Previous goods in, inbound or receiving experience in a warehouse or distribution environment
  • Powered pallet truck (PPT) experience — formal certification welcome, but we'll consider strong operators trained in-house
  • Accurate and numerate — this role is as much about getting the paperwork and system right as it is about the physical work
  • Comfortable with RF scanners or a warehouse system
  • Comfortable working in chilled and freezer temperatures, and with the manual handling that comes with unloading
  • Good timekeeping and able to commit to the full 6am–2pm pattern
  • Own safety boots

What's on offer

  • Paid weekly every Friday
  • Set day shift — no nights, no rotating pattern
  • Ongoing work with a large, established retailer
  • Full site induction and on-site support
  • Realistic route to a permanent position for the right people
