We are looking for an organised, professional and reliable Governance Clerk to provide high-quality administrative and clerking support in Peterborough.
This is a flexible, part-time position that requires attendance at in-person meetings, primarily during the evening, with some daytime availability also required. Additional hours will be needed before and after each meeting to prepare documentation, produce accurate minutes and follow up on agreed actions.
The Role
As Governance Clerk, your responsibilities will include:

Attending and professionally clerking in-person meetings

Liaising with the Chair and relevant stakeholders to prepare meeting agendas

Gathering and distributing papers ahead of meetings
-
Reviewing previous minutes and outstanding actions
-
Taking clear, accurate and impartial notes during meetings
-
Producing professional minutes within the required timeframe
-
Creating and maintaining action logs
-
Following up on agreed actions and recording progress
-
Maintaining accurate and confidential governance records
-
Supporting the scheduling and organisation of future meetings
-
Providing advice on meeting procedures and governance requirements where appropriate

Ensuring sensitive information is handled securely and confidentially
Working Pattern
The role offers flexible part-time hours based around the meeting schedule. Candidates will need to be available for:

In-person evening meetings

Occasional daytime meetings

Preparation work before each meeting

Completing minutes and action logs after each meeting

Responding to relevant correspondence between meetings when required
Requirements
The successful candidate will ideally have:

Previous clerking, minute-taking, governance or senior administrative experience

Excellent written English and attention to detail
-
The ability to produce clear and accurate minutes

Strong organisation and time-management skills

Confidence working independently and managing deadlines
-
A professional and discreet approach
-
The ability to remain impartial and handle confidential information

Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Teams

Flexibility to attend meetings during evenings and occasionally during the day

The ability to travel to in-person meetings across Peterborough
Previous experience working within education or school governance would be an advantage, although training may be available for a candidate with strong transferable skills.
An enhanced DBS check may be required for this position.
