Education Matters Group is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic English Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Greenwich from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate looking to gain valuable classroom experience before pursuing a career in teaching.
The Role As an English Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support students in English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with opportunities to support Key Stage 5 where appropriate).
- Deliver targeted interventions to improve reading, writing and literacy skills.
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students requiring additional assistance.
- Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom activities.
- Help motivate students to achieve their full academic potential.
- Contribute to a positive and engaging learning environment.
- A Bachelor's degree in English or a closely related subject is essential.
- A genuine passion for English Language and Literature.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- Previous experience working with young people is desirable but not essential.
- Holds an English degree (2:2 or above preferred).
- Is considering a career in teaching or education.
- Is enthusiastic, patient and proactive.
- Has a passion for supporting young people to succeed academically.
