Graduate Mechanical Engineer

The Role

At @one Alliance, we bring together eight leading organisations to deliver Anglian Water’s capital investment programme across the East of England. Together, we’re delivering projects to help protect and improve one of the UK’s most important resources - water.

As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer you’ll be part of this exciting programme from the start, gaining hands-on experience of Mechanical Engineering across major infrastructure projects.

You’ll work alongside experienced Engineering professionals building your knowledge, developing your skills and working towards a successful career in Mechanical Engineering.

You’ll be supported throughout your development, with opportunities to build your technical knowledge, gain professional experience and work towards your longer-term career goals.

We welcome applications from candidates outside the region who are willing and able to relocate or travel to Peterborough and the East Anglia Region.

As part of the recruitment process, you will be required to attend a number of assessment centres taking place on the following dates: 20th November, 11th December, 6th January, 8th January, 11th January, 15th January, and 18th January.

Should you be successful in your application, please ensure that you are available to attend all these dates, as participation in the assessment centres forms an essential part of the selection process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the mechanical design of pumping stations, treatment works, and pipeline systems
  • Support project delivery teams on-site and in the office
  • Collaborate with civil, electrical, and process engineers.
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and drawings
  • Engage with clients, contractors, and suppliers to ensure engineering excellence
    Ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance across all activities
  • What We’re Looking For: A degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng or MEng)
  • A strong interest in sustainable engineering and the water sector

About you

Essential

  • A 2:2 degree or above BEng or MEng/MSc in Mechanical Engineering
  • Work in an open and collaborative way– practice integrated working with all Alliance teams and the client. Develop effective working relationships
  • Embrace the responsibilities of a defined stage gate delivery process – understand its impact on your role, people and processes
  • Apply rigour to key projects and tasks that require accurate and timely delivery and decision making
  • The ability to organise your workload and meet deadlines
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to learn
  • An interest in infrastructure, construction or the built environment
  • Full UK driving licence (or working towards it)
