Graduate Quantity Surveyor

Contract Scotland

Graduate / Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Glasgow | Permanent |/ Fit-Out Contractor

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Graduate / Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team of an established and highly respected construction business based in Glasgow.

The business has a long-standing reputation for delivering high-quality commercial fit-out, refurbishment and interior projects for a diverse range of clients across Scotland. With a strong pipeline of work and continued growth, they are looking to strengthen their commercial function with an ambitious Quantity Surveyor who is keen to develop their career within a supportive and experienced team.

This would suit a recent Quantity Surveying graduate or someone with 1–3 years' experience who is looking for their next step and wants genuine exposure to the full commercial lifecycle of projects.

The Role

Working as part of the commercial team, you will support the financial and contractual management of projects from pre-construction through to completion.

You will work closely with the wider commercial, project management and site teams, gaining hands-on experience across a variety of commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the commercial management of projects from inception through to final account
  • Assisting with tendering, estimating and procurement activities
  • Preparing and reviewing project costs, valuations and variations
  • Monitoring project expenditure and commercial performance
  • Assisting with subcontractor procurement and management
  • Reviewing subcontractor applications, invoices and payments
  • Assisting with monthly cost/value reporting
  • Supporting the preparation and agreement of final accounts
  • Working closely with project managers, site teams, clients and subcontractors
  • Maintaining accurate commercial records and documentation
  • Identifying potential commercial risks and opportunities
  • Developing strong relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors
About You

We are looking for someone who is commercially minded, ambitious and keen to build a long-term career in Quantity Surveying.

You could be:

  • A Quantity Surveying graduate looking for your first role
  • An Assistant QS with 1–3 years' construction experience
  • Working within a main contractor, fit-out contractor or subcontractor environment
  • Someone with experience of commercial construction or refurbishment projects
  • Degree qualified, or working towards a relevant Quantity Surveying qualification

You'll need to be numerate, organised and confident working with figures, with good attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone with the drive to learn, take responsibility and progress.

Why Join?

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established business where you can gain broad commercial experience rather than being restricted to one small area of the QS function.

You'll work alongside an experienced commercial team and have the opportunity to develop your skills across estimating, procurement, cost control, subcontract management, valuations and final accounts.

For the right person, there is genuine scope to develop and progress within the business as your experience grows.

The Opportunity

If you're a Quantity Surveying graduate, Assistant QS or early-career QS looking for a role where you can develop, take ownership and build a long-term career, we'd be keen to hear from you.
