Graduate Quantity Surveyor – Central London
An established and growing specialist contractor is looking for a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team in Bishopsgate.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveying graduate with around one to two years’ post-degree experience who wants to develop within a supportive and experienced commercial team.
Experience in structures, structural alterations, cut and carve, demolition, RC frames or groundworks would be useful but is not essential. Applications are welcomed from candidates working for main contractors, subcontractors or other construction businesses.
The Role
Working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and senior commercial management, you will support the commercial delivery of technically challenging construction projects across London.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with subcontractor procurement and tender analysis
- Supporting the management of subcontractor packages
- Preparing valuations, variations and payment applications
- Monitoring project costs and budgets
- Assisting with monthly cost reports and forecasts
- Identifying and recording project changes
- Liaising with site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and clients
- Attending commercial and project meetings
- Supporting the preparation of final accounts
- Developing towards managing your own packages and projects
The business is a well-established London contractor specialising in structural alterations, cut and carve, demolition, groundworks, RC frames, refurbishment and basement construction.
With a growing workload across London, this is a strong opportunity to gain hands-on commercial experience and progress from Graduate Quantity Surveyor to Assistant Quantity Surveyor and beyond.
What They Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Quantity Surveying degree or similar construction qualification
- Around one to two years’ post-degree Quantity Surveying experience
- Experience with a main contractor, subcontractor or construction consultancy
- Some exposure to procurement, valuations, variations or cost management
- Good numerical, organisational and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
- An ambition to develop into a well-rounded Quantity Surveyor
Salary & Package
- Up to £45,000, depending on experience
