Ready to take what you've learned in your Psychology degree and apply it in a real-world setting?

Premier Education is looking for 2026 Psychology graduates to support children in primary schools across Trafford. You'll help pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop positive routines and feel more confident in the classroom.

This opportunity is particularly suited to graduates planning careers in Educational Psychology, teaching, therapy, counselling, SEN or children's mental health. It offers the chance to observe child development in practice and understand how schools support pupils with a variety of needs.

You could work with children who have autism, ADHD, communication needs or social, emotional and mental health needs. Your patience, consistency and ability to understand behaviour will help pupils feel secure and ready to learn.

Positions are available in areas including Sale, Altrincham, Stretford and Urmston, with placements accessible from Manchester, Salford, Stockport and surrounding parts of Greater Manchester.

What will your school day involve?

No two days will be exactly the same, but your responsibilities could include:

  • Helping pupils understand instructions and remain focused during lessons

  • Breaking learning activities into manageable steps

  • Working with small groups to reinforce key skills

  • Supporting individual pupils when they need additional guidance

  • Encouraging positive choices, independence and self-confidence

  • Using calm and consistent strategies to respond to challenging behaviour

  • Recording observations and sharing relevant feedback with school staff

  • Working with teachers and the SENCO to follow agreed support strategies

  • Helping pupils take part fully in classroom and school life

Build experience for your future career

Working in a primary school will help you develop:

  • A practical understanding of child development and behaviour

  • Experience supporting neurodivergent children and pupils with additional needs

  • Confidence communicating with children and education professionals

  • Knowledge of school-based SEN support and EHCPs

  • Skills in observation, intervention and progress monitoring

  • Positive behaviour support and de-escalation techniques

  • Evidence of relevant experience for future training and postgraduate applications

Who we're looking for

You should have:

  • A 2:1 or above in Psychology or a closely related subject, completed or due to be completed in 2026

  • Recent experience with children through tutoring, mentoring, coaching, childcare, volunteering or youth work

  • A thoughtful and compassionate approach

  • The confidence to remain calm and consistent when situations become challenging

  • Good communication, organisation and teamwork skills

  • A willingness to learn from experienced school colleagues

  • The ability to travel to primary schools across Trafford

  • The legal right to work in the UK-we are unable to offer visa sponsorship

  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to obtain one

If you want to begin your career with a role that offers responsibility, practical learning and the chance to positively influence a child's school experience, Michaela would be pleased to hear from you.
