We’re working with an established and growing multidisciplinary consultancy in Taunton that is looking to welcome a Graduate Structural Engineer to its team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate who wants to build strong technical foundations, gain hands-on project experience and work alongside experienced engineers across a variety of exciting projects.

The opportunity

You’ll join a friendly and collaborative team where you’ll be supported from day one. You’ll work closely with experienced Structural Engineers and other disciplines, gaining exposure to projects throughout their lifecycle.

Rather than being limited to one area of work, you’ll have the opportunity to develop a broad understanding of structural engineering and see how different disciplines work together to deliver successful projects.

Your role will include:

• Assisting with structural designs and engineering calculations
• Producing structural drawings and technical details
• Supporting engineers with design development and project delivery
• Working with steel, concrete, timber and masonry structures
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical information
• Assisting with site visits and inspections
• Liaising with other members of the design team
• Learning to use industry-standard design and analysis software
• Developing your understanding of British Standards and relevant regulations
• Working towards taking greater responsibility for your own projects as your experience develops

About you

We’re looking for a motivated Graduate Structural Engineer who is keen to learn and build a long-term career in consultancy.

You’ll ideally have:

• A degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related subject
• A strong interest in structural engineering and building design
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• A willingness to learn new software and technical skills
• Good written and verbal communication
• A proactive approach and ability to work as part of a team
• Ideally, some knowledge of structural design principles
