Teaching Personnel are recruiting passionate and resilient graduates to support a Year 2 pupil with behavioural and additional learning needs (ALN) on a 1:1 basis in a Newport primary school.
This role is ideal for those considering careers in:
- Educational Psychology
- Teaching / PGCE
- SEN/ALN support
- Child therapy, social work or youth services
You’ll support a pupil who may experience:
- Behavioural challenges
- Emotional regulation difficulties
- Trauma-related responses
- Additional learning needs (ALN)
Key responsibilities:
- Provide consistent 1:1 classroom support
- Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour
- Use trauma-informed and de-escalation strategies
- Follow behaviour and support plans
- Encourage engagement with learning and routines
- Support transitions and maintain a calm environment
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo
- Passion for supporting children with behavioural needs and trauma
- Calm, patient and resilient approach
- Strong relationship-building skills
- Confident managing challenging behaviour
- Observant and responsive to triggers
Desirable experience:
- Working with children (education, coaching, care, youth work)
- Supporting ALN/SEN or behavioural needs
- Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Education or related
- Empathetic and emotionally intelligent
- Proactive and adaptable
- Firm but fair approach
- Interested in long-term career progression in education
- Weekly pay from £92.63 per day
