What a Graduate Teaching Assistant does day to day

• Works 1:1 or with small groups so students can take part in lessons alongside their peers
• Follows the plans and strategies set by teaching staff and the SENCO
• Adapts resources so a task is achievable without changing the learning behind it
• Notices patterns and small changes, then reports them accurately
• Supports students through transitions, breaktimes and the less structured parts of the day
• Works alongside therapists and specialists where they're involved, and learns from them

Who this tends to suit

• Graduates, or final year students, in Psychology, Education, Health and Social Care or a related field
• Anyone with experience of children or young people, paid or voluntary
• People who communicate clearly and stay easy to work with in a busy environment
• Those who understand progress isn't always linear and are content to work at a student's pace
• Candidates available for full-time, long-term or permanent work
• You'll need the right to work in the UK

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position is previous experience working in a school setting.
