This is a hands-on site management role for someone who can lead groundworks teams, drive programme performance and maintain high standards of safety, quality and productivity.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate directly employed and subcontract groundworks operatives across the project.
  • Oversee day-to-day groundworks activities including drainage, excavation, foundations, concrete works, external works, utilities and associated civils.
  • Plan labour, plant and materials to ensure works are delivered safely and in line with programme.
  • Work closely with the Site Manager, Project Manager, engineers, surveyors and subcontractors to resolve site issues and maintain progress.
  • Ensure works are completed to the required drawings, specifications and quality standards.
  • Carry out regular site inspections, briefings and toolbox talks.
  • Monitor productivity, sequencing and short-term programmes, identifying risks before they impact delivery.
  • Maintain strong health, safety and environmental standards across all areas of responsibility.
  • Support the coordination of interfaces with superstructure, MEP, façade and external works packages.

What we are looking for

  • Proven experience as a Groundworks Manager, Groundworks Supervisor, General Foreman or similar on major construction projects.
  • Strong background delivering large-scale groundworks and civils packages within a main contractor or reputable specialist groundworks contractor.
  • Experience managing and motivating sizeable teams of groundworkers and plant operatives.
  • Exposure to major mixed-use, residential, commercial, regeneration or high-rise schemes.
  • Strong understanding of drainage, utilities, concrete, excavation, temporary works interfaces and external works.
  • Confident reading drawings, coordinating site activities and working to demanding programmes.
  • SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid required; Temporary Works awareness would be advantageous.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-profile London project with a contractor known for delivering complex schemes. The contract is expected to run for 6–12 months, with an immediate start available for the right person.
