Group Financial Controller
Jane Gorse Recruitment Limited
Group Financial Controller
£75,000–£95,000 DOE | Droitwich, Worcestershire | Hybrid
Ready to do more than simply report the numbers?
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Group Financial Controller to join a fast-growing, multi-site manufacturing group near Droitwich.
The business has expanded significantly through acquisition and has ambitious plans for further organic growth and M&A. Its finance function is evolving too—moving from a traditional, control-led operation towards a more commercial, insight-driven team that genuinely influences business performance.
Working closely with the Group Finance Director, you’ll take ownership of financial control and reporting across the group while helping to shape better systems, stronger processes and more meaningful management information.
This isn’t a “keep things ticking over” role. It’s an opportunity to build, improve and make your mark.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll have a broad and highly visible remit, including:
- Leading the monthly, quarterly and annual reporting cycles, ensuring accurate and timely delivery across the group
- Owning the month-end close timetable and producing high-quality management accounts
- Delivering clear reporting across P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and business performance
- Maintaining strong balance sheet control and overseeing reconciliations across multiple entities
- Strengthening financial controls and introducing consistent accounting practices across sites and newly acquired businesses
- Supporting statutory reporting, audit, tax and wider group reporting requirements
- Working alongside the Group Finance Director to produce board packs, investor reporting and senior leadership updates
- Leading the annual budgeting process and managing the rolling forecast cycle
- Analysing revenue, margin, overheads, EBITDA, cash and working capital to identify trends, risks and opportunities
- Building financial models to support scenario planning, cash-flow forecasting and strategic decision-making
- Partnering with operational and commercial leaders to challenge performance and drive improvement
- Improving visibility of profitability by site, customer, product and revenue stream
- Supporting pricing decisions, tender analysis and wider profitability initiatives
- Driving improvements across systems, processes and reporting, including ERP integration and dashboard-led reporting
- Leading, developing and mentoring a team across management accounting, transactional finance and FP&A
- Taking ownership of short and medium-term cash-flow forecasting and working capital performance
- Acting as deputy to the Group Finance Director when required
What we’re looking for
We’re keen to speak with established Financial Controllers, Group Financial Controllers or senior finance professionals ready to take the next step.
You’ll ideally have:
- An ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification
- Strong technical accounting and financial control experience
- Experience gained within a multi-site, group or acquisitive business
- A proven track record of leading and developing finance teams
- The confidence to challenge, influence and partner with operational and commercial stakeholders
- Strong Excel skills, with exposure to ERP systems and reporting tools such as Power BI advantageous
- A hands-on approach combined with the ability to see the bigger commercial picture
- The drive to improve processes, raise standards and bring people with you
Manufacturing experience would be highly beneficial, although candidates from other complex, multi-site environments are also encouraged to apply.
