Your New Company:
A leading UK organisation within the housing and social impact sector is seeking an experienced Group Tax Manager to join its finance function. With a large and diverse operational footprint, the organisation offers the opportunity to play a key role in managing tax compliance, governance and risk across the group while supporting a business that makes a meaningful difference to communities across the country. The role is based in either London or Oldham and offers hybrid working arrangements.

Your New Role:
Reporting to the Head of Financial Reporting, you will act as the organisation's tax subject-matter expert, taking ownership of a broad range of tax responsibilities. This role combines tax compliance, advisory work, stakeholder engagement and process improvement, providing significant exposure across the wider finance function and senior leadership team.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing Corporation Tax, VAT, CIS, Employment Tax and Gift Aid compliance.
  • Leading all correspondence and relationships with HMRC and external advisors.
  • Monitoring legislative changes and assessing their impact on the business.
  • Advising on the tax implications of business projects and strategic decisions.
  • Supporting statutory accounts and tax reporting requirements.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve tax efficiency and strengthen controls.
  • Managing tax risk across the organisation.
  • Preparing reconciliations and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  • Supporting process improvement and finance systems development initiatives.
  • Acting as a trusted adviser to stakeholders across the business.

What You'll Need to Succeed:
To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced tax professional with strong UK tax knowledge gained in either industry or practice.

You will possess:

  • A recognised CCAB qualification (ACA, ACCA, ICAS, CIPFA) or CIMA qualification.
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK tax legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Experience across Corporation Tax, VAT and/or CIS.
  • Experience managing relationships with HMRC and external advisors.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach.
  • Experience improving controls, governance and tax processes.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

    The following would be advantageous:
  • VAT Partial Exemption experience.
  • Experience preparing financial statements and supporting audits.
  • Oracle Financials knowledge.
  • Social housing or not-for-profit sector experience.
  • CTA or other professional tax qualification.
