Handyman/ Maintenance Technician

Our well-established client based in Hertford is recruiting a maintenance technician to join their team. This is a full-time, permanent position working 40 hours per week and will be required to work weekends on a rota basis. The core working hours for this role is 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (A Day off in Lieu of the following week would be given for weekend working). This role is paying a competitive salary of £27,916 per annum.

Reporting to the Head of Maintenance and Compliance, you will carry out planned and preventative maintenance and minor repairs to ensure the building remains safe, compliant and fit for purpose

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out minor repairs to building fabric, joinery, furniture, decoration, plumbing and basic electrics.
  • Repair doors, windows, locks, fixtures, fittings and furniture.
  • Inspect and report issues with fire doors, alarms, signage and firefighting equipment.
  • Carry out basic plumbing repairs, including taps, toilets and blocked sinks/drains.
  • Complete minor plastering and structural repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of work and materials used.
  • Identify and report Health & Safety issues.
  • Ensure work complies with relevant regulations and procedures.
  • Undertake training to maintain relevant skills.
  • Drive company vehicles when required.
  • Support the wider Maintenance Department as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Full clean driving licence (essential)
  • Good general level of education (GCSE or equivalent)
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • A broad knowledge of building maintenance, plumbing/ drainage and basic electrical safety
  • Experience of undertaking minor repairs to buildings, fittings and equipment
  • Excellent customer service skills
