We are supporting a leading Further Education organisation with the appointment of a Head of Business Development & Employer Skills.

Reporting to the Assistant Principal – Employer Skills, Innovation & Growth, this is a key leadership role focused on business development, adult skills, employer engagement, short course growth and income generation.

You will lead the development and delivery of Professional and Industry Short Courses, Adult Skills provision and employer-focused training, with responsibility for:

  • Driving growth and income across short course and adult skills provision.
  • Developing innovative, industry-led training and upskilling programmes.
  • Building strong relationships with employers, local authorities and strategic partners.
  • Leading bids, tenders and new funding opportunities.
  • Managing delivery of the Adult Skills Fund (ASF) and associated targets.
  • Developing an Adult Training & Upskilling Hub/Centre.
  • Leading the Careers team and strengthening careers, guidance and employability provision.
  • Improving quality, achievement, retention and learner/customer satisfaction.
  • Developing strategic partnerships and responding to local and industry skills priorities.

About You

We are looking for an experienced FE professional with a strong background in adult skills, curriculum development, employer engagement and business growth.

You will ideally bring:

  • Experience managing and developing FE curriculum and short course provision.
  • A proven track record of working with employers to develop relevant training programmes.
  • Experience managing teams and delivering against challenging targets.
  • Knowledge of Adult Skills Fund (ASF) funding.
  • Experience of project management, bids/tenders and developing new provision.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and negotiation skills.
  • A commitment to high-quality teaching, learning and learner outcomes.
