Brooksbank Valves is seeking an experienced Head of Engineering to lead our Engineering Design function and play a key role in the continued development and future direction of the business.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director and as a member of the Senior Management Team, you will provide technical and strategic leadership for the Engineering function. You will lead and develop the Engineering team, drive product development and continuous improvement, and ensure our products continue to meet the demanding requirements of our customers and markets.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading, developing and supporting the Engineering Design team.
  • Overseeing the design and development of new and existing valve products.
  • Driving product improvement, innovation and engineering best practice.
  • Working closely with Production Engineering to improve manufacturability and efficiency.
  • Strengthening engineering processes, technical documentation and drawing control.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards, legislation and customer requirements.
  • Managing departmental priorities, capacity, budgets and KPIs.
  • Providing technical leadership and support across the wider business.
  • Working directly with customers, auditors and external bodies.
  • Contributing to the Senior Management Team and supporting the delivery of the company's strategic objectives.

What we're looking for

You will be a degree-educated engineering leader with significant experience in valve design and pressure equipment.

You will ideally have experience of:

  • Ball, butterfly, gate, globe and check valves.
  • Relevant standards and regulations, including ISO 9001, PED, CE marking, API and ANSI.
  • CAD systems, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Manufacturing processes within a low-volume, high-mix environment.
  • Castings, APQP and FAI processes.
  • Leading and developing engineering or design teams.
  • Working directly with major customers, auditors and technical teams.

You will combine strong technical knowledge with proven leadership ability, commercial awareness and a drive to improve products, processes and performance.
