Our client is one of the UK’s leading Property Guardianship Company with a mission to bring empty properties back to life for the benefit of local communities. They are dedicated to offering sustainable and affordable solutions for managing vacant buildings by placing working professionals as guardians into these properties, ensuring they are kept safe and secure.

They are currently seeking a Head of Finance to join their dynamic team on a permanent, full-time basis. 

The Head of Finance will provide accurate financial reporting, strategic financial insight and strong financial governance across the Group supporting the CEO and senior leadership team with budgeting, forecasting, cashflow and working capital management, commercial decision-making and long-term planning. 

The role will ensure that financial processes, controls and reporting mechanisms are fit for purpose, scalable and aligned to the needs of a growing business.

Reports to: CEO

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and delivery of monthly management accounts for GGM, GGFM and G100. 
  • ​Produce monthly profit and loss accounts, balance sheet reports, cashflow reporting and other management information required by the CEO and senior leadership team. 
  • Prepare financial information, analysis and commentary for Board meetings and present financial performance where required. 
  • Ensure financial reporting is accurate, timely and accompanied by clear interpretation of performance, risks, commercial consequences and recommended actions.
  • Maintain oversight of the Group's financial control framework and ensure appropriate systems, reconciliations, segregation of duties, approval controls and payment controls are in place and operating effectively. 
  • Ensure statutory accounts, corporation tax, VAT and all other financial and regulatory obligations are completed accurately and within the required timescales. 
  • Ensure all financial records are maintained accurately and in accordance with statutory requirements, accounting standards and company policies. 
  • ​Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, tax advisers and other financial advisers, ensuring that required information and actions are provided and completed promptly. 
  • Identify material control weaknesses or compliance risks, determine the appropriate corrective action and monitor implementation through to a satisfactory outcome. 
  • Lead cashflow and working capital management across the Group, ensuring the business maintains appropriate visibility of current and forecast cash requirements.
  • Develop and maintain meaningful financial and operational KPI reporting across the business. 
  • Produce reporting and analysis on property profitability, client profitability, guardian income performance, maintenance profitability, debtor performance, cash conversion and departmental performance against budget
  • Lead the development and improvement of finance systems, reporting tools and dashboards across the Group.

Requirements

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or qualified by significant relevant experience. 
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and financial reporting capability. 
  • Experience using accounting software, financial reporting systems and dashboard/reporting tools
  • Significant experience in a senior finance role within an SME or growing multi-entity business. 
  • Experience of leading, coaching and developing a Finance team and building accountability for departmental outcomes. 
  • Experience overseeing financial controls, statutory reporting, tax and VAT compliance, reconciliations, payment controls and external financial advisers. 
  • ​Strong experience of cashflow, working capital, debtor management, aged debt and cash conversion. 
  • ​Experience of producing Board-level reporting and presenting financial performance, commercial implications and recommendations to senior stakeholders and Directors. 
  • Experience of developing operational financial reporting, KPIs and management information that support commercial decision-making and measurable improvement. 
  • ​Experience in property, facilities management, housing, service delivery or other operationally led sectors would be advantageous.

Benefits

  • Salary: £70k - £85k
  • Hybrid role with a mixture of office-based and home-based working. Attendance at Head Office and other business locations as required.
