Head of HR / HR Manager – Waste & Recycling

AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY FOR AN EXPERIENCED, COMMERCIALLY FOCUSED HEAD OF HR / HR MANAGER TO LEAD THE PEOPLE FUNCTION FOR A GROWING, MULTI-SITE WASTE MANAGEMENT AND RECYCLING BUSINESS

Salary : £65,000 - £75,000 plus car allowance, bonus and pension. 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.

Location: Home based with travel to sites as required 
You will work closely with the senior leadership team and operational managers, providing both strategic and hands-on HR leadership across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the Senior HR Advisor 
  • Develop and deliver the HR and people strategy aligned to business growth. 
  • Advise senior leaders and managers on commercial HR matters. 
  • Lead HR policies, processes and employment-law compliance. 
  • Manage employee relations, including disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance issues. 
  • Lead recruitment, retention, succession planning and talent management. 
  • Coach and develop managers and leaders. 
  • Improve performance management, engagement, culture and wellbeing initiatives. 
  • Support organisational change, restructuring and business growth. 
  • Oversee payroll and HR administration. 
  • Build strong relationships with employees and managers across multiple operational sites. 
  • Ability to integrate new employees following acquisitions 

About You

  • Experienced Head of HR, HR Manager, Senior HRBP or equivalent. 
  • Background in waste/recycling, environmental services, logistics, manufacturing, construction or another operational environment. 
  • Strong UK employment law and employee relations experience. 
  • Experience supporting multi-site/geographically dispersed teams. 
  • Commercial, pragmatic and hands-on approach. 
  • Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills. 
  • Experience delivering organisational change and people initiatives. 

Requirements

  • CIPD Level 7 or equivalent experience – essential 
  • Valid UK driving licence – essential 
  • Willingness to travel regularly across sites in the North of England and Midlands
