Our modern air-conditioned subcontract CNC machining facility is based in West Byfleet Surrey. The latest machinery and equipment in harness with a highly skilled workforce gives us the ability to supply challenging, complex components and difficult to make CNC machined parts and products with extremely close tolerances, improving product performance.

Our specialist area is in the subcontract machining of complex components and assembly parts used for demanding applications and within harsh environments. Technical knowledge and flexibility have allowed T &G Engineering to penetrate various market sectors. In an ever-changing industrial world, this flexibility and ability to manage are seen as key strengths.

T&G Engineering is part of the T&G Engineering Holdings Group which includes Williams & Co Precision in Southampton and Douglas Precision Engineering in Hastings.

Job Summary: -

We are seeking an experienced and driven Head of Operations to lead our manufacturing operations at T&G Engineering. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for ensuring production activities are carried out safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards. You will lead, motivate and develop the production and supporting teams whilst driving continuous improvement initiatives that improve productivity, quality, on time delivery and cost performance.

This is newly created role within the company giving an excellent opportunity for a strong manufacturing leader who is passionate about developing people, improving processes and creating a culture of high performance and engagement.

Key Responsibilities: -

  • Lead and develop managers, supervisors and office staff to create a smooth-running operation.
  • Lead, motivate and manage the shop floor team on a day-to-day basis.
  • Ensure production schedules are met and customer delivery deadlines are achieved.
  • Working with managers, supervisors and production support staff on process improvements.
  • Drive continuous improvement to the use of our ERP system (Progress Plus).
  • Ensuring compliance with all health & safety, environmental, legal and operational standards.
  • Manage operational analysis, identifying opportunities to improve efficiencies.
  • Championing innovation, sustainability and continuous improvement throughout the business.

Requirements: -

  • Manufacturing leadership and production management.
  • Production Planning and Scheduling experience.
  • Quality control and ISO Standards proficiency.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
  • Strong people management and coaching skills.   
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where general helpfulness and flexibility are essential attributes for this role.
  • A passion for engineering and the appreciation and commitment to achieve our client’s requirements is essential.
