Head of Projects: Commercial Fit Out & Refurbishment

Location: Greater Manchester, Hybrid Working (3-4 Days per Week in the Office)

Salary: £85,000 + Benefits

Type: Permanent, Full-Time

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Projects to join a well-established and growing construction business delivering commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects.

This role would suit an ambitious Senior Contracts Manager, Associate Director, or existing Contracts Director looking to take the next step in their career within a highly respected business that offers genuine long-term progression and the opportunity to play a key role in shaping project delivery across the company.

The Role

Reporting into the senior leadership team, you will oversee multiple projects and lead a sizeable operational team, ensuring projects are delivered safely, profitably, and to the highest quality standards.

This is a hands-on leadership position requiring someone who is willing to roll their sleeves up, remain visible on projects and provide support to teams both in the office and on site.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the successful delivery of multiple fit-out and refurbishment projects.
• Lead and manage a team of:
  • Project Managers
  • Contracts Managers
  • Site Managers
  • Contracts Administrators
  • Quantity Surveyors

   

• Review project performance, programmes, and commercial performance.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
• Provide leadership, mentoring, and support to operational teams.
• Attend project sites regularly to monitor standards and project progress.
• Work closely with senior management to drive business performance and growth.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a Contracts Director, Associate Director, Senior Contracts Manager, or similar leadership role.
• Strong commercial fit-out and refurbishment background.
• Excellent industry knowledge and understanding of project delivery.
• Experience managing multiple projects and large operational teams.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to balance strategic responsibilities with hands-on operational involvement.
