We are seeking an experienced Head of Schools Admissions Service to provide strategic and operational leadership of the school admissions function within a Local Authority.

The successful candidate will have significant local authority experience, a strong background in education and detailed knowledge of school admissions legislation, statutory guidance and processes.

• Lead and manage the Schools Admissions Service, ensuring an efficient, high-quality and customer-focused service.
• Ensure compliance with statutory admissions requirements, legislation and guidance.
• Develop and review admissions policies, procedures and service standards.
• Provide expert advice to senior leaders, elected members, schools, academy trusts and other partners.
• Lead, motivate and develop the admissions team.
• Manage complex admissions cases, appeals and in-year admissions.
• Monitor performance and deliver continuous service improvement.
• Work closely with Education, SEND, School Place Planning, Legal and Children’s Services colleagues.

You will have:

• A recognised education qualification and/or substantial professional experience in education.
• Proven experience working within a local authority, ideally in school admissions or a related education service.
• Strong knowledge of the school admissions framework and statutory requirements.
• Proven leadership and people-management experience.
• Excellent communication, analytical and stakeholder-management skills.
• Experience working with schools, academy trusts, senior officers and elected members.
