Working collaboratively with local authorities, government agencies, and private sector partners, you will lead a high-profile programme that will have a lasting impact on waste services across the region.

This role is for 21 hours per week on a hybrid arrangement across a 12 month contract.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the development and delivery of the procurement strategy and programme for future waste disposal arrangements.
• Working collaboratively with Worcestershire County Council, Herefordshire Council, government agencies, and private sector partners to deliver successful outcomes.
• Securing the resources, expertise, and stakeholder engagement required to deliver the programme.
• Facilitating effective governance and supporting strategic decision-making.
• Identifying, managing, and mitigating programme risks.
• Preparing and presenting reports, policy papers, and presentations to senior leaders, elected Members, committees, and key stakeholders, including DEFRA.
• Ensuring compliance with procurement legislation, waste management regulations, and recognised project management principles.

About You:

• Significant experience leading complex procurement programmes, major projects, or strategic service delivery.
• Strong knowledge of public sector procurement, governance, programme management, and risk management.
• The ability to build effective relationships and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience engaging senior leaders, elected Members, and external organisations.
• Knowledge of waste management, environmental services, or other regulated sectors would be an advantage.
