Health and Safety Advisor – Civils / Streetworks

This is a strong opportunity for a developing Health and Safety professional to continue progressing their career within a growing civils and streetworks environment.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will support the development, implementation and ongoing management of health and safety across a range of highways, streetworks and construction sites across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and London.

The Role

The position will involve a mix of working from home and travelling to sites, so a full UK driving licence is essential.

You will work closely with site teams and senior management to promote a positive health and safety culture, provide practical guidance, complete inspections and audits, and ensure standards are being maintained across multiple live environments.

The Person

You should have a minimum of 4 years’ experience within a similar environment, ideally within civils, highways, streetworks, utilities or construction.

You will also need to hold a NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent qualification, along with a good working knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, SHEQ standards and best practice.

This role would suit someone who is proactive, engaging and confident working with site-based teams. You do not need to be the finished article, but you will need to be credible, organised and comfortable managing your own diary across multiple locations.

What’s in it for you?

• Salary up to £55,000
• Company car
• Training and professional membership support
• Pension
• Health insurance
• Full IT package
• Hybrid working arrangement

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the development, implementation and ongoing review of health and safety standards across each site
• Undertake site inspections and attend site review meetings
• Support the identification and management of SHE risks, issues and opportunities
• Create site-specific audit and inspection packs
• Monitor corrective actions and ensure non-compliance reports from internal and external audits are properly closed out
• Audit minor works across sites as required
• Keep up to date with current SHE legislation, best practice and industry developments
• Manage your availability across multiple sites to ensure the right level of governance and support is provided
• Promote a proactive, engaging and positive approach to SHE excellence

This is a good opportunity for someone who wants visibility, responsibility and the chance to continue developing in a practical, site-focused health and safety role.
