We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join a leading UK civil engineering and infrastructure contractor delivering complex projects across sectors including civil engineering, rail, utilities, infrastructure, groundworks, structures and commercial developments.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in driving a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture across multiple projects in the North and Midlands regions.

Reporting to the Senior Leadership Team, you will provide professional health and safety support across a portfolio of construction and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with legislation, company procedures and industry best practice.

Key responsibilities of the Health and Safety Manager include:

  • Providing proactive H&S leadership and support to project teams and operational management.
  • Conducting regular site inspections, audits and behavioural safety observations.
  • Advising on risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
  • Investigating incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Monitoring compliance with company standards, statutory requirements and client expectations.
  • Delivering health and safety training, toolbox talks and awareness initiatives.
  • Supporting the development and continual improvement of H&S policies and management systems.
  • Producing reports, KPIs and trend analysis to support performance improvement.
  • Building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and stakeholders to promote best practice.

Essential requirements for the Health and Safety Manager:

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent.
  • Membership of IOSH (GradIOSH or CMIOSH desirable).
  • Proven experience in a Health & Safety role within construction or civil engineering.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK H&S legislation and industry standards.
  • Experience of conducting audits, inspections and incident investigations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between projects.
