The Position

We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join our Environment Division, supporting health and safety compliance across contracts in Southern England and throughout the UK. The successful candidate will provide expert advice and guidance across de-vegetation, landscaping, and other land-based operations, helping to ensure safe and compliant delivery across a varied portfolio of CDM sites, construction, environmental, and land management projects.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves the following key responsibilities, but it is not limited to:

• Promotion and implementation of Group Health, Safety, Environment and Quality policies and procedures with a particular focus on raising safety standards across the business
• Provision of Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental advice to company managers in the Environment Division and across Euroforest Group
• Liaison with construction clients and safety representatives, regulators
• Inspections and internal audits of worksites, offices and subcontractors
• Assistance with preparation and presentation for external audits
• Creation and review of risk assessments
• Investigation of accidents, incidents and near misses to determine root causes
• Review operational plans including CPP, Method Statements, Environmental Management Plans, Waste Management Plans
• Managing occupational health surveillance
• Supporting new business development and provision of Compliance information for tenders and work planning
• Collation of safety and environmental statistics
• Attendance at internal Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) committee monthly meetings
• Conducting toolbox talks and workshops for managers and operatives

Training and support will be provided to introduce the successful applicant to Company systems and procedures.

Skills, Qualification & Experience

Essential

Proven experience in health and safety within the CDM environment

NEBOSH Certificate in Construction Health and Safety or equivalent

IOSH Technical Member working towards Certified or Chartered

Construction, utilities or infrastructure experience

Skilled in conducting risk assessments and audits

Proven knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant operational management software

Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on safety and continuous improvement

Ability to influence and engage a wide range of stakeholders

Effective organisational, motivational and negotiation skills

Full, clean UK Drivers Licence and willingness to travel

Desirable

Experience in site clearance, landscaping or environmental engineering projects

Arboriculture, landscaping, de-veg, infrastructure projects experience

Experience with forestry or construction plant

ISO audit experience

Environmental Foundation or Awareness qualification

CITB SMSTS certificate

CSCS card

Experience with EHS Software
