My client are an established and growing groundworks and civil engineering contractor delivering high-quality projects across the residential sector. They are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead and continually improve our health, safety, environmental, and compliance standards across all operations.
The Role
As Health & Safety Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the company's health and safety strategy, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, industry standards, and client requirements. You will work closely with site teams, management, and clients to promote a positive safety culture and drive continuous improvement across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the company's Health & Safety function across multiple construction and groundworks sites.
- Develop, review, and maintain Health & Safety policies, procedures, and management systems.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and compliance reviews.
- Ensure compliance with current Health & Safety legislation, including CDM Regulations and HSE requirements.
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training sessions to site personnel.
- Support project teams in preparing RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements).
- Monitor subcontractor compliance and safety performance.
- Liaise with clients, principal contractors, regulatory bodies, and external auditors.
- Maintain company accreditations and assist with audits, including ISO standards where applicable.
- Produce regular Health & Safety performance reports for senior management.
- Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organisation.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a Health & Safety management role within the construction, groundworks, or civil engineering sector.
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate or NEBOSH Diploma.
- Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations and UK Health & Safety legislation.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Ability to work independently and travel between sites as required.
