We are working with an established main contractor delivering high-quality construction projects across London, with schemes valued up to £50 million.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive H&S professional to work across significant construction projects and have a genuine influence on health, safety and wellbeing standards.
You will work closely with project teams, site management and senior leadership, providing expert H&S support from pre-construction through to project completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide proactive health & safety advice and support to project and site teams.
- Carry out regular site inspections, audits and reviews across projects valued up to £50m.
- Monitor compliance with current H&S legislation, regulations and company policies.
- Support project teams with RAMS, construction phase plans and H&S documentation.
- Work closely with Site Managers, Project Managers and subcontractors to promote a positive safety culture.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses and ensure appropriate actions are implemented.
- Assist with risk assessments and provide guidance on suitable control measures.
- Monitor subcontractor health and safety performance.
- Deliver and support site inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Maintain accurate H&S records, reports and audit documentation.
- Provide regular updates to senior management on project H&S performance.
- Support training and initiatives designed to improve safety awareness across projects.
- Promote a positive, proactive and collaborative approach to health and safety.
About You
- Proven experience as a Health & Safety Manager / Advisor within construction.
- Strong understanding of construction H&S legislation and best practice.
- Experience working on live construction projects, ideally with a main contractor.
- NEBOSH Construction or equivalent qualification.
- Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations and construction risk management.
- Confident carrying out site inspections, audits and investigations.
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to challenge unsafe practices.
- Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong report writing and record-keeping skills.
- Passionate about improving health, safety and wellbeing within construction.
