About the company
Our client is a well established M&E firm working across multiple industries, including airports, highways, high voltage, hospitals and energy and defence sites. It is in its next phase of growth and is strengthening its HSQE function to support it. People who join this company stay for the long haul. It wants a Health and Safety Manager who loves being out with the teams.
About the role
You will lead health and safety across sites and projects, working closely with a Senior HSQE Advisor and a Quality and Compliance Manager. You will be the person the workforce knows and trusts, and the person the board relies on for clear updates.
What you will do
- Keep risk assessments and method statements current for every type of work
- Lead incident and close call investigations
- Run the weekly near miss and close call meeting
- Plan and carry out site inspections with the Senior HSQE Advisor
- Manage drug and alcohol testing and fitness for work, including a confidential medication log
- Support workforce competence management
- Give health and safety input to bids in new sectors
- Support the ISO 45001 management system
- Co-present the quarterly HSQE forum to the whole business
What you will bring
Essential
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate
- Site based health and safety experience in M&E, building services or construction
- Confidence on site and the ability to explain things clearly to senior leaders
- Good IT skills
Desirable
- NEBOSH Diploma
- Experience in airports, highways, high voltage, hospitals or energy sites
- Experience with ISO 45001
- Procore experience
The person
You are the person people are pleased to see turn up on site. You can engage and encourage site teams to follow best safety practice, as well as demonstrate health and safety performance and improvements at board level. You can tell someone straight when something isn't safe, and still have them on your side by the end of the conversation. You get on with things without waiting to be chased, and you see a near miss report as a good thing, not a telling off. The team here is friendly and positive, and they want someone who adds to that.
