There is also the opportunity to develop your qualifications and progress into a more senior HSE position over time.
You’ll be involved in everything from risk assessments and incident investigations through to training, audits and continuous improvement, giving you the opportunity to build broad experience across the full HSE function.
What you’ll be doing
- Provide day-to-day HSE support across the business.
- Assist with risk assessments, safe systems of work and incident investigations.
- Support accident, incident and near-miss reporting, including corrective actions and close-out.
- Deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks and other training.
- Help monitor HSE performance, KPIs and trends.
- Support internal audits and compliance activity across ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001.
- Assist with emergency preparedness, drills and response procedures.
- Support contractor and visitor safety management.
- Encourage colleague engagement and participation in HSE initiatives.
- Help identify opportunities for continuous improvement across health, safety and environmental standards.
- Work closely with the QHSE Manager, gaining exposure to more senior HSE responsibilities as your experience develops.
What we’re looking for
- Previous experience in a Health & Safety or HSE environment.
- Experience within a manufacturing, engineering or operational environment would be beneficial.
- IOSH qualification or equivalent is desirable.
- NEBOSH General Certificate would be advantageous but is not essential.
- A genuine interest in developing a career within HSE.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
- Confident communicator who is comfortable working with people at all levels.
- Organised, proactive and willing to get involved on the shop floor as well as with documentation and reporting.
- Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office and Excel.
- A willingness to undertake further HSE qualifications and develop professionally.
Why this role?
This isn’t simply a compliance-based position. You’ll have the opportunity to get involved across the business, work alongside an experienced QHSE Manager and develop your skills, qualifications and responsibilities with a clear route towards progression.
If you’re already working in HSE and looking for your next step, or you have a solid foundation such as IOSH and are keen to progress your qualifications, we’d be keen to hear from you.
