We're looking for an experienced Health & Safety Officer to take ownership of health and safety across our clients heavy manufacturing operation.

This is a hands on role for someone who is comfortable getting out onto the shop floor, walking the sites, talking to people, identifying risks and making things happen. This isn't a desk-based position where policies sit in a folder you'll be expected to roll your sleeves up and make a tangible difference to the safety of the business.

You'll work across two sites, helping to ensure that our people, processes and working environments meet the highest possible standards.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Developing, reviewing and implementing health & safety policies, procedures and SOPs
  • Carrying out regular site inspections, safety audits and risk assessments
  • Identifying hazards and working with managers and employees to put effective controls in place
  • Monitoring compliance with company procedures and relevant legislation
  • Investigating accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions
  • Producing clear and accurate incident reports and corrective action plans
  • Supporting and coordinating emergency response procedures
  • Ensuring emergency arrangements, drills and procedures are effective
  • Providing practical health & safety advice to managers, supervisors and employees
  • Working closely with the shop floor and operational teams to improve safety standards
  • Following up actions and making sure issues are actually resolved
  • Supporting training, toolbox talks and safety communications
  • Keeping health & safety documentation, records and systems up to date
  • Conducting audits and monitoring performance across both sites
  • Challenging unsafe practices and driving a positive safety culture
  • Staying up to date with relevant legislation, guidance and industry best practice

What We're Looking For:

  • NEBOSH qualification is desirable
  • Proven experience in a Health & Safety role within manufacturing, engineering, heavy industry or a similar environment
  • Strong knowledge of workplace health & safety legislation and practical risk management
  • Experience conducting audits, investigations and risk assessments
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Strong report-writing and communication skills
  • The confidence to challenge people at all levels when something isn't right
  • A practical, proactive approach
  • The ability to work independently and take ownership
  • A willingness to spend significant time on the shop floor rather than behind a desk

This is hands-on heavy manufacturing so you will be out on the shop floor, wearing PPE, walking both sites and getting involved where it matters.

We're looking for someone who is physically fit, practical and comfortable rolling up their sleeves to make a real difference.

If you're experienced, practical and ready to get stuck in, we want to hear from you
